Next to Tremors with Kevin Bacon, this is the worst movie i have ever seen. Does Napoleon's mouth always hang open?

This movie is freakin' hilarious.
Some of it's corny, but it's very real in its comedic stereotyping. If you look at it as slice of life in rural Idaho, it is an excellent piece. I haven't read or heard anything about this movie outside of what came out of the speakers during the viewing. I just watched it cold on recommnedation.
If someone wanted to have a little fun with rural life, they picked the perfect spot and brought to life its uniqueness.
The llama. Yes! I drive by a llama ranch every other day up here.
Notice the prevalance of steaks? That's Idaho. What do you think goes with all those potatoes?
The clothes.
The typical houses and neighborhoods.
The FFA milk test (those FFAers are serious here!).
The girl having to go to a phone booth to make phone calls. And her door to door sales to raise money for college plus creepy guy's fast buck sales pitches; this is poor country - everybody's gotta do their thing on the side to survive.
Anyway, the list goes on. Some movies don't have to have narrowly focused plots to be good. It was creative and different, and I was entertained.
My 20 year old son, 29 and 30 year old daughters, my wife, Sue and I all laughed our butts off at this one. Maybe we just identify with some of the characters :o)
Our sense of humor is very warped so this helps.
Whats neat about it is you can start watching it at anytime during the movie and it does not make any difference.
We have watched it about 2 1/2 times (we fall asleep on the couch very often watching TV at night so I don't know if we have ever seen it beginning to end all in one sitting. That said, it does not reflect what we think about it but rather that we should watch movies during the day not in the evening... Thats what think "real quick".
I grew up and live near Preston Idaho where the movie was filmed.
I loved the movie! It depicts what those of us who grew up here thought our lives were really like... painfully geeky and boring.
I'm sure that many people feel this way about their hometown but I could really relate to it.
Everything the movie showed was why I wanted to get out so badly!!!
Now that I'm older and wiser (and have moved back to my hometown) I realize that I had a distorted view of my reality... or maybe I didn't.. hmmmm
I LOVED it. Great characters, funny dialogue--it portrayed the sadness and smallness of the lives of middle-of-nowhere American town folks, but with an endearing, understanding sense. We've all known guys like Napoleon and his brother, and every once in a while, they do something... well, something unusual and interesting. This movie was awesome because it made a "hero" out of the most unlikely candidate for a hero EVER. And he gets the girl in the end.
Best line ever: "I Caught You a Delicious Bass."
kaz and I watched this and I got in trouble. She also grew up near Preston, in a town called Blackfoot{jules neighbor maybe?}
We had gone to visit last year so I was able to point out all her relitives in the movie, oops! The other side effect was I had to ditch my fanny pack. now I am going to have to pick up one of those 7mp canon elphs so I can carry my camera in a jacket pocket
stupidest movie EVER!!!!!
to enjoy this movie you have to figure out that it is funny because it has absolutely no plot. The only people who don't like this movie are anal left brainers who need to see the point in everything.
