Union Springs, Alabama
My job took me to Union Springs, Alabama today. It is a small country town in Bullock County. They claim to be the bird dog capitol of the world, and this statue is in the center of the town. I saw these small signs saying "Bird Dog Statue", pointing the way and had to follow them to see what it was.

The Alabama State Fair
Last weekend Mary and I went to the Alabama State Fair. It was a lot of fun, rides, games, colorful lights and greasy food and smells. Sort of a white-trash wonderland. The above photo was taken on the big ferris wheel.

There was a great sunset last night in Auburn. Mary and I went for a brief ride around Auburn and enjoyed the fall weather. The jersey I am wearing is courtesy of my Uncle David, he had them made for one of the rides he does every year in Savannah. His website is here:

BOO!
Last night Mary had a gathering at her house to honor the birthday of her friend Nicole. She made awesome lasagna and came up with the idea of having everyone carve pumpkins, which was a lot of fun. I was to bring my camera so I photograph the lot of them, however I forgot it(doh!). I didnt even have my little Coolpix pocket camera, which is unusual. The two pumpkins above are mine and Marys, mine is on the left. The photo was taken with my cell phone. Marys pumpkin has Cheerios for eyes and ribbon for hair, but the phone cam just doesnt provide that many details.

More photos from WOOFstock.
This photo and the one below it of Ileya were from the Woofstock festival in Auburn. They were not published until today as they were shot on film and it was not processed until yesterday. Both photos by Mary.

Great Weekend, but not many photos to show.
This was a great weekend, although I didn’t get a lot of photos taken. There is a new Mexican place in town and they had a mariachi band Friday night. The food was ok but left us both kind of queasy feeling.
Saturday morning we got up early and went to Santuck. For those of you that don’t know Santuck is a big flea-market sort of thing that they have in a cow field in Santuck, Alabama on the first Saturday of each month. Ileya got to go this time, and she was rather popular. A lot of people wanted to pet her and a few jumped back into vendor’s booths in fear when they saw her coming. Some people are so stupid; you can look into the dog’s eyes and see that the biggest thing you have nothing to fear. I did joke with Mary saying next time she goes there I am having a doggie t-shirt made that reads “My name is Ileya. I am a Great Dane. Yes I am friendly. I love cheese.” There is a booth there that people from a dairy farm have, and they sell homemade cheeses and fresh-churned butter and similar items. Ileya, being a big fan of cheese got real happy and started salivating when she got a few free samples and a lot of laughs from onlookers. Had to work a football game Saturday night, but I shot well. After the game we went to Chris Renegar’s wedding reception, but it was about over when we got there. Billy shot the wedding; I’ll get a photo from him and post it soon.
Sunday I rode and Mary ran. I’ll get a ride photo up later.
